Glaucoma
SIGNS & SYMPTOMS
Glaucoma is often called the "silent thief of sight," because it has few or no initial symptoms. Glaucoma generally develops gradually over several years and often goes undetected in the early stages. Early detection and treatment of glaucoma can prevent permanent vision loss and blindness.
Signs and symptoms of primary open-angle glaucoma
Open-angle glaucoma gradually reduces peripheral vision without other symptoms in it's early stages. In advanced stages, the patient has tunnel vision.
Signs and symptoms of closed-angle glaucoma
  • Blurry vision
  • Sudden and intense pain
  • Red eyes
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Vomitting
  • Seeing halos or 'rainbow-like' rings around lights
  • Sudden vision loss
